Othello Poem Assignment from Act. 4

"To try me with affliction, had they rained all kind of sores and shames on my bare head, steeped me in poverty to the very lips"

After a long day at school put through affliction,

I leave for home in the teeth chattering rain,

Finally I enter through the doorway of my home

Sores cover my body, Shame illuminates my bare head,

Time for another miserable night of homework and chores,

Times are tough, mother working two jobs,

Father out of work, 5 o'clock time to head to the daily grind,

Minimum wage,  can it get any worse? Little brother and sister

waiting for dinner, Merely six and seven, they don't deserve this,

To them this is normal, this is life, survival of the fittest, "Keep pushing,"

mom always tells me, "It'll get better," Poverty stricken, I lie awake every night,

Dad comes home late another unsuccessful day job hunting, Whispering,

They come in my room, I feel my mothers soft lips kiss my head, 

that's what gets me through the day, 

One day at a time. As T.I. said "You got to be thankful for the life that you got, 

stop lookin' at what you ain't got, and be thankful for what you do got."

Poem from Quote Act 4

I hope my noble lord esteems me honest,

My dear Othello hasn't been the smartest,

Does he not trust me?

Sweetie why can't you see?

I am truly yours, my Moor.

The truth shall come out,

Please don't scream and shout.

It is Iago who is messing with your heart,

But he shall never tear us apart.

Changed Impression of Someone

I used to have a really good friend in 6th grade. We hung out all the time. Then slowly he started hanging with the wrong crowd. I couldn't believe how much he changed. Soon he was going to parties and drinking alcohol. I was not impressed at all. Now we barely ever talk and see each other. I wish he was still the same kid I remember.

Lying

One time I told my mom I had done my homework and I hadn't. When she found out I had lied she was very mad and disappointed. I felt terrible for what I did. Luckily I was able to regain her trust back. I think lying isn't a good thing to do. One lye leads to more lies. I learnt from my mistake and will try not to do it ever again.

Wrong Impression

A lot of people may think I am ticked off and mad by the way I look, but really I am happy inside. Also I am a quiet kid, but once you get to know me I do talk quite a bit. I get nervous talking to people so I don't really talk that much. So a lot of people have the wrong impression of me.

Cinquain Poem

My plan

They are naive

Othello has no clue

The couple will be broken up

For sure

Iago's Lies

Iago is without a doubt a lier. He is leading everyone on. Othello is trustworthy of Iago and believes in everything he says. He cannot give Iago enough praise. Little does he know that Iago is going to stab him in the back. Iago said, after Roderigo had left, that he hated the Moor. One reason why he hates Othello is because he thinks his wife and Othello are having an affair. He is simply trying to use Othello to improve his position in the army. He has come up with a very thought out and sneaky plan. Cassio, who is a good looking man,  can attract women very easily. Iago plans to persuade Othello into thinking that Cassio and Desdemona have an affair going on. Meanwhile, Roderigo is filling up his purse to lure Desdemona from Othello. I believe that Desdemona's and Othello's love for each other is greater than everyone thinks. Hopefully,  Iago's plan doesn't work out. Only time will tell their fate.

Being Drunk?

I have never done anything stupid while being drunk. I have never drank. I have however seen someone on the verge of being drunk. He was starting to lose control and doing things he usually wouldn't do. It was as if he had no clue what he was saying and doing. It made me feel very uncomfortable. I really don't know why people, especially kids our age would waste their time drinking. I guess they think it's cool but it really just leads to trouble.

Iago's statement about women

Iago said that women are pictures out their doors. Iago thinks that women only look good when they are in public. I disagree. Women look good no matter where they are. They may be even more prettier when they are in casual clothes with no make-up.

                                                                                                

  I would have Michael Clark Duncan be my star actor as Othello. For my actress as Desdemona I would hire Scarlett Johansson.  Michael Clark Duncan would fit well as Othello because he is big, strong, and looks like a tough military man. Even though he is tough and strong he could act out the scenes where he needs to have a soft side. Scarlett could play Desdemona well because she has a good look, and is quite a bit younger than Othello, just like Shakespeare wrote. I think these two actors would be great fits for the lead roles in Othello.

Simile: What is Love?

Love is like an ocean sunset. A beautiful, astounding thing. The sense of wonder. You can't take it for granite though. Enjoy every second of it, because like life itself, it will have its end. Treasure it, guard it, and above all respect it.

What am I prejudiced about?

I think I am most prejudiced about people being racist and mean to other people. I can't stand hearing kids in the hall constantly making fun of other kids they don't even know. Sure, I do mess around with my friends, but we all do. We all know each other well and know that we are just kidding. But, when people make fun of, or are racist, to someone they don't know it is so wrong. They are probably very nice people. Also you don't know what they are up against at home. They could be going through a very difficult time. I hear the saying all the time, "treat others the way you want to be treated." So very true, but how many of us actually do it? Not too many. If we just followed this simple guide line the world would be a much better place.
